Sainte-Croix Church – Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie

We were warmly welcomed by Mr Jean-Paul Boury and rediscovered the Emeriau organ with great interest. The craftsmanship of this instrument stands as a significant testament to the artistry of Philippe Emeriau. We were also surprised by the quality of the materials used and their durability over the years.
Due to a heavy build-up of dust in the pipework, and a ‘metal memory’ effect that has caused the pipe bores to widen, this instrument is no longer in peak condition and is far from what it ought to be. Other parts of the instrument require servicing, such as the mechanical adjustments and the keyboards (which also need to be reworked to ensure a better touch), or a chord that requires significant equalisation.
